JMET 2009 had really very stiff competition as the level of paper was easy and lot of students found out their result not matching their calculated scores as per by various coaching institutes and websites. IIT's are notorious for dubious results as it has been the history nobody get the calculated score. Click here>> to check out pagalguy thread for JMET discrepancy in rankings.
not considering the attention that JMET has brought to itself in recent couple of years where the people giving JMET has risen from 20K to 35k+ in 2008.Most of the Coaching institutes as TIME,CL predicted cut off for IIT-B as 70+ whereas a score of above 80 would have fetched rank around 300.Why was there so much difference? The competition has increased 4 folded and so JMET bringing an easier paper would mean 100-200 rank difference in above 1000-2000 ranks for +1 mark. This means every question would account for 250 rank [lower down the ranking order]!!
While there would not be much difference in CUTOFF for various IIT's.
LAST YEAR STATS ARE as follows:
IIT-B under rank 350
IIT-D under rank 492
IIT-Kgp under rank 1100
IIT-K under rank 1400
IIT-R under rank 1600
2009 STATS ARE :
IIT-B under rank 300
IIT-D under rank 430+
IIT-Kgp under rank 1398
IIT-K under rank 1398
IIT-R under rank 1600
IIT-C Called students on the basis of their CAT scores and JMET ranks( Not Confirmed: Basically added both the marks in different sections and then shortlisted)

(Update:1st March'09):
After JMET Results GD/PI process has begun, one striking feature was that this time there has been an increase of 10% in the seats for the genral category and the number of students called has increased by far. Also IIT-Chennai has opted to consider CAT scores and therefore the cutoff rank has diminished by far, even a JMET rank of 518 has not got a call because his CAT percentile was lesser. The average experience for IIT's has increased by far this month with average going upto 25-35 months. IIT R (Gives an option of Dual specialisaion like in both finance and marketing etc..)has called 418 students, IIT K and IIT Kgp has called in the ratio of 1:7-1:9.Though IIT have increased number of seats except IIT-R none of the IITs release a waiting list.
Update:1st April'09:The interviews of IIT-B was very general whereas IIT-D was primarily technical even if you have an experience of 4 years you still would be asked about your core subjects,IIT-Kgp was primarily concerned with the Management subject done during your graduation and technical based on your profile.IIT-K was asked general but intriguing questions from your core subjects and mainly looks your overall profile.IIT-B The scores were as close as 1248 at 77.75 and 1398 at 77.25 which was the last call. This year it has shown that though every -ve mark is of 0.25 but it has a big role when it comes to rankings.Read more on JMET 2010.
